A girl from an isolated mountain town follows the group of dervishes that arrive on the central square to perform their transformative and symbolic dance. She joins their dancing to prove that she could be a dervish, too. But there is more to being a dervish than dancing...
Making of The Legend of the Girl and the Whirling Dervish
"The Legend of the Girl and the Whirling Dervish" is my diploma animated short film produced during the second year of my Master's degree in Computer Animation and Visual Effects in RUFA - Rome University of Arts in team with my groupmates Emanuelle Camilli and Viviana Curella.
Due to the high volume of rendering, lighting and compositing work and shortage of student workforce, it was decided with our course mentor that our team will produce the teaser of the film for final diploma showcase.
The film is based on my animated short film pitch that was selected during 2nd year pitching session to be produced in team with my groupmates as a diploma film.
As part of the idea development and pre-production for the film I did following: writing story, creating storyboard and animatic, character design, concept art, moodboards.
During production of the film, in addition to animation direction, I also did character modeling and rigging, art direction, animation supervision, animation, lighting, rendering and compositing.
